St. John’s Raises over $4,000.00 for OUT REACH in 2010
Immediately following contributions of $1,487 for the annual Mexico Mission, St. John's parishioners answered another ministry calling and contributed $1,435 for the earthquake victims in Haiti. This year the Mexico Mission team constructed two houses for needy families. (see Mexico Mission page)
We also invited the African Team Ministry to display jewelry, wood carvings and other crafts for sale to benefit the charitable work they perform. You were very generous as we collected over $280.00 for this important outreach ministry. The ministry provides funds for orphans, refugee relief, missions and evangelism in East Africa. They currently have children registered for sponsorships in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda. Support is sent directly to each Bishop.
Our Sunday school students have contributed over $300 this year with their weekly offerings to be used to provide sustainable sustenance to needy families by providing farm animals through the Heifer International initiative. Heifer's mission is to work with communities to end hunger and poverty and to care for the earth. Their strategy is to "Pass on the Gift". As people share their animal's offspring with others -- along with their knowledge, resources, and skills -- an expanding network of hope, dignity, and self-reliance is created that reaches around the globe. Our kids would like to purchase a heifer for a family in need.
The Holy Spirit also placed it on our hearts to answer a need to minister to a parishioner in need in another parish by contributing over $1,000 to help with health care costs.
